Police ID Man Who Shot in Face in Bridgeport

 A man who was shot in the face early Sunday morning in Bridgeport is expected to recover.

Police said they were called to 231 Ogden Street at 1:51 a.m. for reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

Police have identified the victim as Jamie Nieves, 43, of Bridgeport.

Nieves was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate whether there is any connection to a possible dispute at a bar earlier in the night involving that the victim and his acquaintances had with another group of males.

Police towed a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that the victim and a friend were in when the shooting occurred.  It is being processed for potential evidence by detectives.

According to police, the shooter fled from the scene in a pickup.
