Police are investigating after a 23-year-old man was shot and killed outside a West Haven bar early Sunday morning.

According to police, Jaymar Spain of West Haven was shot near the Lager House Bar at 555 Campbell Avenue. Police said he may have been involved in a fight in the bar’s bathroom, which continued inside and resulted in the victim being shot.

Police said people were fighting outside the bar when officers arrived on scene and the victim was unconscious. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Witnesses were uncooperative, according to police.

Milford and Orange police provided mutual aid, along with a K-9 unit and members of the West Haven Fire Department.

It’s not clear if police have identified any suspects or people of interest.
