Man Stole 1,000 OxyContin Pills from Wallingford CVS

A man threatened to shoot up a Wallingford CVS if the pharmacist did not give him all the OxyContin in the shop, then fled with more than 1,000 pills, according to police.

When police responded to the CVS Pharmacy located at 891 North Colony Road at 7:49 p.m. on Monday, they initially thought a shoplifter took medication. However, as the details emerged, they realized that this was a robbery and hundreds of pill had been stolen.

They said a man walked up to the pharmacy counter and handed one of the pharmacists a note, demanding all of the “oxys” or he would shoot up the store.

The pharmacists gave the man more than 1,000 OxyContin pills of varying strengths.

With pills in hand, the robber ran out of the store, toward the nearby Dunkin’ Donuts located nearby.

Police believe he got into a car that another person was waiting in and they drove away.

No employees or customers were injured during the robbery and, while the man implied he had a gun, he did not pull one on the staff, police said.

The man had a beard and was wearing sunglasses and a black hooded jacket with what appeared to be a North Face emblem.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call (203) 294-2845.
