Police in Vernon arrested a 24-year-old man accused of holding a knife inches away from a 3-year-old boy and threatening to cut out the child’s tongue.
The child’s mother told police that the man, Roman Fein, 24, of Vernon, is a family acquaintance and the incident happened when she was at work and the child was with a babysitter.
Several witnesses provided police the same account of what occurred, police said.
Fein admitted that he had been flipping a knife open in the area of a child but he denied purposely holding the knife toward the child, according to police.
Fein was arrested on July 7 and charged him with reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a child.
