Police have charged an East Hartford man with throwing a cup of coffee on the Glastonbury deputy fire chief.

Mark Duell, 27, was arrested at 9:40 p.m. Monday. According to police, Duell threw the coffee on the deputy chief after he was told he could not proceed through the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Eastern and Western Boulevards.

Duell was charged with assault on emergency personnel. He was released on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 5.
