Vernon police arrested a 51-year-old Coventry man accused of drinking a beer while driving.
Police stopped David J. Caruso at a DUI checkpoint at 10:08 p.m. on Saturday.
His vehicle was not registered, it was suspended for no insurance, his license was under suspension from a previous DUI case and he was drinking a beer, according to police.
Caruso was charged with drinking while driving, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension-alcohol and illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension.
Bond was set at $2,500.
He is due in court on July 31.
