Police said they are about to make an arrest in a home invasion and burglary that happened in Middlebury on Thursday night. They also said they have found the van believed to be connected to the crime that put a neighborhood on edge.

A man and woman broke into a Yale Avenue home with two children inside around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to police.

The children, ages 12 and 14, were not injured, police said.

The thieves took off with cash from the children's bedrooms and jewelry and got away in a white van with a blue ladder on the roof, police said.

The intruders are described as a man in his 30s, about 5-foot-4. He wore a beige baseball hat and jeans.

The woman is 5-foot-8 and thin. She has brown hair and was wearing a red shirt with her hair pulled back.

Police said people who identified themselves as gas company employees were banging on doors in Easton on Thursday and forcing themselves in. The van description is similar, but it is not known if the two are connected.

More information will be posted once it becomes available.
