The mysterious parachutist who sailed off a transmission tower on Rattlesnake Mountain early Wednesday morning continues to elude police.

Sometime around 5:30 a.m., someone in a red, white and blue parachute sailed off tower in Farmington, witnesses told police, and the tower's owner is calling the stunt "insane."

Arnold Chase, who owns Communications Site Management and the communications tower, says the jump was foolish because getting too close to the radiating tower could have health consequences.

"This jumper climbed our antenna while it was radiating at full power," Chase told the Courant.

The daredevil must be an early riser, because the it would have taken him about an hour to get to the top of the 1,340-foot-tall tower, the Hartford Courant reports.

Police departments, radio and television stations and others, use the tower.

There was a car with Canadian plates near the property, the Courant reports, but cops say there was no evidence linking the owner to the stunt.

However, the car owner admitted having parachuted in Canada before. Coincidence?
