Man in Wheelchair Gets Bullet Wound New Haven Gunfire

A man in a wheelchair who went to the hospital a week after falling over upon hearing gunfire July 19 had been wounded by a bullet, police said.

Yale-New Haven Hospital staff treated Yancey Horton, 37, for a wound a week after he noticed a small amount of blood and a cut that evening after tipping over in his wheelchair when he heard gunshots while at Shelton Avenue and Ivy Street in the city, police said. The wound wasn't healed in a week, so he went to the hospital. Doctors told him that the wound was actually a small bullet.

Police responded Monday night after getting a call from hospital staff about a gunshot victim.

Police responded to a gunfire complaint at basketball courts in the area the night Horton was shot, police said.

His wound isn't life-threatening, according to police.
