Police have identified the man found in the Mill River in New Haven on Saturday morning as William Young, 27, of New Haven.

Two park rangers spotted Young's body floating in the Mill River, just west of Orange Street in New Haven, and members of the police dive team retrieved the body just before noon on Saturday.

A preliminary autopsy did not find any trauma to the body, police spokesman, Officer David Hartman, said.

Hartman said Young was last seen on Jan. 5 at his home on Market Street.

Young told his mother he was going to meet someone downtown near the library and had not been seen or heard from since, police said.

Police said toxicology results are pending and they are investigating this as an accidental death.
