A Quinnipiac University student was arrested on Thursday afternoon, accused of receiving a package of the narcotic variety at his dorm.

The package being mailed to Nicholas Dinanno, 20, contained 1.5 pounds of marijuana, police said.

The United States Postal Service delivered it to the university and members of the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team and the Quinnipiac University Public Safety Department seized the package, which contained about $15,000 worth of marijuana around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police obtained a search-and-seizure warrant for Dinanno’s residence in the York Hill complex and seized drug paraphernalia and a large amount of money, police said.

Dinanno was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dinanno, who was released after posting a $25,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden.
