Martha Dean to Enter Governor's Race

Martha Dean, an attorney who helped gun rights advocates challenge the constitutionality of Connecticut's recent gun control law, plans to announce her intentions to run for governor.

A news release posted Tuesday on the Connecticut Citizens Defense League's blog said the two-time Republican candidate for Attorney General will hold a March 18 event to discuss her political platform and to answer questions form the media.

Dean, who has a private law practice in Avon, said in a recent biography that she helps clients "successfully challenge inappropriate government action" while furthering "their economic and individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution."
This year's state Republican convention will be held from May 1
6-17. Dean is among several Republicans hoping to challenge Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who has not announced his re-election plans.
