Men With Machete Rob New Haven Dunkin' Donuts

Two men with a machete robbed a Dunkin’ Donuts in New Haven on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to 255 Kimberly Avenue at 2:57 p.m. on Tuesday after an employee activated the store's hold-up alarm, and a female employee told police two men robbed her.

One of them had a machete, she told police.

Police reviewed surveillance, which showed the robbers go into the shop and walk toward the restrooms.

One man went into the men's room and the other went into the women's room.

A minute later, they approached the counter, where one of the men ordered an iced coffee and paid for it, police said.

When the employee opened the register drawer, one of the robbers reached in and grabbing a handful of cash, police said.

The clerk struggled with the robber until he pulled out a machete and tried to attack her, but she moved back and the men ran, police said.

Police are looking for a man who was wearing a white V-neck T-shirt, dark pants and a black baseball style cap and another who was wearing a red shirt, black basketball shorts and a dark "Boonie style hat."

No one was injured.
