Meriden Family Displaced by Fire

Meriden fire officials are investigating the fire that heavily damaged a home on Gracey Avenue this morning.

The family living at 227 Gracey Avenue discovered the fire when they returned home and opened the door to find heavy smoke, fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the single family ranch to find the fire in the kitchen. The fire was extinguished in about five minutes, according to Meriden fire officials.

Authorities said the kitchen is heavily damaged and the rest of the house has heavy heat and smoke damage.

The family has been displaced by the fire and is being helped by the American Red Cross.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.
