Meriden Man Dies After Being Hit By Car

A Meriden man died after being hit by a car in Hamden on Saturday night.

A 58-year-old Meriden man has died from injuries sustained when he was hit by a car in Hamden on Saturday night, according to police.

Manuel Jesus Bonete-Canar was crossing Whitney Avenue on foot near the intersection of Home Place at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday when he was hit, according to police.

Hamden Fire Rescue responded and provided medical assistance to Bonete-Canar. He was then transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police identified the driver of the car as Leonard Wisneski, 73, of Hamden.

The Hamden Police Department Traffic Division is investigating and asks anyone with information to call Officer Kevin Hall at (203) 230-4000.
