Meriden Police Investigate Shooting

Police responded to 14 Maple Branch in Meriden for a reported shooting.

Meriden Police say a man was shot in the neck during a gathering to play video games this afternoon.

The incident happened at 14 Maple Branch. Police received a 911 call reporting a man shot in the neck.

When officers arrived, the found the victim on the second floor. The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported by a medical helicopter to Hartford Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police say a group of people got together to play video games. Investigators believe a shotgun was present and that no one thought it was loaded. When one man handled the gun is discharged and struck the victim in the neck.

Police say they are continuing their investigation. There is no word on whether any charges will be filed.
