Person Dies After Being Hit by Metro-North Train

Police are investigating after a person was hit by a train in Darien.

Metro-North police are investigating after a person was hit by a train in the Noroton Heights area of Darien on Monday morning. Metro-North officials said the person has died.

The train involved left New Haven at 5:38 a.m. and was heading to Grand Central Station.

Metro-North said the person struck was a trespasser.

Train service was affected for hours and eastbound Metro-North trains were not stopping at Noroton Heights, Darien and Rowayton. 

Eastbound train service resumed to Darien and Rowayton starting with the 9:07 a.m. train departing Grand Central Terminal. 

Substitute bus service will be provided between Noroton Heights and Stamford.
