On Tuesday night, a teen from Middlebury will try to continue to win over the tough panel of American Idol judges.

Katie Stevens, a 17-year-old senior at Pomeraug High School, has one of the best voices on the show and is among the eight females left.

The one criticism judges have has is that she is not choosing songs young enough for her age.

Last week, she thought she had a hit with Corinne Bailey Rae's “Put Your Records On,” and the reaction was better.

"You took our notes and made an attempt to sound younger," Simon Cowell said, which is high praise for the toughest judge on the show.

Tonight, she will have to pick another young song and give it another shot.

"The best (judge's) compliment I got was on group day, when Kara said I could be the potential winner. That was incredible," Stevens said last month after she made it to the Top 24.

Although she is young, Stevens is no stranger to musical pressure. In fact, she performed at Carnegie Hall when she was just 13.
