Middletown Man Charged With Sexual Assault

A Middletown man first charged with disorderly conduct is now facing more severe sexual assault charges following a police investigation into an August encounter with a woman he knew.

According to police, 35-year-old Soloman Dill of Middletown showed up at the Newfield Street apartment of a woman with whom he’d had a 13-year sexual relationship the night of Aug. 30.

Police said the woman let Dill inside, where he drank enough vodka to get “buzzed” but not drunk, Dill told investigators. He said the woman had taken drugs that he could only describe as pills prior to his arrival, according to police.

There Dill attempted to engage in sexual activities with the woman, who resisted, police said. Dill initially told police he backed off when she struggled with him and left her apartment shortly after she walked out.

He was first charged with disorderly conduct, but a police investigation led to additional charges including first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint. It’s not clear what police may have discovered during the course of the investigation.

Dill was arrested and taken into custody Dec. 10. He’s being held on a $500,000 bond and will appear in court Dec. 11.

Court records show that Dill has been convicted of prior charges including burglary.
