Teen Critically Injured in Crash

Two people are in critical condition.

An 18-year-old in in critical condition after a car he was driving hit a utility pole Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene on New Haven Avenue near Old Gate Lane at 7:31 a.m.

The driver, Carlton Tucker, 18, was critically injured in the crash, according to police.  His passenger, 17-year-old Jake Campbell, suffered minor injuries, police said.

The teens attend one of Milford's high schools, though police did not release details on which school.  The Milford Board of Education was offering counseling services for students, police said.

The streets were expected to be closed through at least 8 p.m.  Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

The following detours are in place:

  • Eastbound traffic on New Haven Avenue will be detoured onto Old Gate Lane.
  • Westbound traffic on New Haven Avenue will be detoured onto Buckingham Avenue.
  • Southbound traffic on Old Gate Lane will be detoured Eastbound onto New Haven Avenue.
