Mohegan Sun Reveals Plans for Earth Hotel

Mohegan Sun Casino, already one of the largest entertainment, gaming, dining and resort destinations in the country, will expand further with a second hotel tower in Uncasville.

The casino unveiled plans for the interior and exterior design of a new 400-room Earth Hotel tower were unveiled at a news conference Thursday.

The $120 million project is modeled after the Sky Hotel, which opened in 2002.

The hotel is expected to employ more than 1,000 people with construction and permanent jobs, according to Mohegan Sun.

Gov. Dannel Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman attended the announcement alongside Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority CEO Mitchell Etess and Mohegan Tribe Chairman Kevin "Red Eagle" Brown.

The hotel is expected to open in 2016.
