Naugatuck police have arrested a 19-year-old mother who is accused of abusing her 4-month-old son.
Police arrested Alexandra Valentine on a warrant on Thursday.
The child was transported to Waterbury Hospital, then transferred Hartford Children's Medical Center, where medical professionals determined the child had severe injuries from suspected abuse.
Police were brought in to investigate just after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 and said they determined that Valentine caused the injuries to her child.
She was charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment in the first degree and risk of injury to a child.
She was released on a $50,000 non-surety bond and is due in court on Nov. 9.
