Mom Left Kids in Minivan While She Shopped: Cops

A New Britain mother is under arrest, accused of leaving her four young children alone in a minivan while she shopped for cell phones.

Rosalie Rivera, 27, left the kids, aged 2 to 9 in the vehicle at New Brite Plaza on East Main street on Saturday, according to police. As officers approached the minivan, Rivera came out of a store and identified herself as the mother of the children, police said.

It was not clear how long the children had been left alone.

According to police, Rivera was uncooperative and was charged with interfering and leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle.

Police notified the Department of Children and Families about the incident.
