After a month-long investigation into armed robberies in at least two towns, Bloomfield police have made an arrest.

Luis Amaral, 19, of Shawn Drive in Bristol, was arrested on Thursday and charged with robbery and assault charges.

The arrest stems from an armed robbery at the BP gas station, at 1030 Blue Hills Ave. on Saturday, Sept. 22, police said.

More than one person, dressed in black wearing masks and gloves, went into the station as it was closing and hit the clerk in the forehead with a shotgun gun, police said.

Bloomfield detectives, Hartford police, as well as other state and local agencies where similar types of incidents had occurred have been investigating and Bloomfield police made the arrest.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, police said.

Amaral was charged with robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, assault second degree; larceny in the third degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree.

Amaral was arraigned at GA 14 and is currently in custody of the Department of Corrections held on a $500,000 bond.
