More Judicial Branch Employees Laid Off Thursday

More employees at the state Judicial Branch were laid off Thursday and others will get pink slips next week, according to a judicial spokesperson.

In all, 113 additional Judicial Branch employees will be laid off in a second round of job cuts. In April, 126 judicial employees were laid off.

In a letter to Governor Malloy this week, Chief Court Administrator Patrick Carroll III said total layoffs in the Judicial Branch could top 600 if the governor's revised budget is adopted.

Layoff notices were given today to people in the following positions:

  • Caseflow Coordinator
  • Clinical Coordinator
  • Family Relations Counselor
  • Adult Probation Officer
  • Juvenile Probation Officer
  • Intake, Assessment and Referral Specialist

So far, more than 700 state employees have been laid off as the state deals with a looming $922 million budget deficit.
