Motorcycle Driver Seriously Injured in Ledyard Crash

A Groton man is in serious condition after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in Ledyard early this morning.

Police said 31-year-old Andy Carpenter was driving his motorcycle on Route 117 near the intersection with Thomas Road when he lost control and veered into a tree. It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.

A LifeStar helicopter flew Carpenter to Hartford Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
