Mystic Man Brought Toddler to Buy Drugs: Police

A Mystic man is facing charges after driving through New London to pick up drugs Wednesday morning with an 18-month-old child in the backseat, according to police.

Police said Andrew Pendexter, 31, of Mystic, drove around the city with another man to pick up drugs from various places.

Officers stopped the car on a motor vehicle violation and confronted Pendexter, at which point he turned over a small amount of heroin, police said.

Investigators said an 18-month-old child was strapped into a car seat and had been there during the drug deals. The toddler was taken into the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

Pendexter was arrested and charged with narcotics violations and risk of injury to a minor.
