New Britain Police Officer Involved in Serious Crash

A New Britain Police police officer was taken to the hospital after his cruiser was involved in a serious crash in the area of Broad and Washington streets on Tuesday night.

The officer was responding to reports of shots fired when he collided with another vehicle, according to police.

The officer's cruiser flipped onto the driver's side.

The officer was able to pull himself from the vehicle with the help of a responding officer, police said.

The injured officer was was alert and conscious on the scene and was transported to Hartford Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, a female, was transported to St. Francis Hospital.
