Nader's Not Ruling Out a Run Against Dodd

Ralph Nader could be another name you see on the ballot for Senate in 2010.

He’s not ruling out challenging Sen. Chris Dodd, Nader told Politico.

“You can't believe the number of people of asking me [to run]... Right now I'd say I'm agnostic," Nader told Politico.

The idea started brewing April, when Manchester’s Journal Inquirer ran an opinion piece blasting Dodd and calling on Nader to run.

Nader, a Winsted native and perennial third-party candidate, is registered to vote in the state, so he would be eligible, state elections officials told Politico. 

Dodd’s approval ratings are back on the downslide and voters said they would chose Republicans Rob Simmons, Tom Foley and Linda McMahon against him if the election were happening now.

Nader’s support from liberal voters could eat into Dodd’s support from his base, which could make the race more difficult, Politico reports.     

And, Nader would still be free to throw his name into the ring to run for president again in 2012.
