Neighbor Rescues Woman From Southington Trailer Park Fire

A neighbor saved a woman from a home that caught fire in a Southington trailer park on Sunday.

Southington resident Alessandro Rodegher saw smoke coming from his neighbor's home at 10 Hillside Ln. in Three Gardens Trailer Park and ran next door to help, according to fire officials. He pulled a woman inside at the time to safety.

“Mr. Rodegher’s actions were critical to the occupant’s safety,” Southington Fire Capt. Alan Zygmunt said in a statement, “He probably saved her life.”

The woman was home alone when a fire started in the front bedroom at about 11:11 a.m. Sunday, fire officials said. An ambulance transported her to Bristol Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire was contained to the bedroom and caused smoke damage throughout the trailer, fire officials said.

The owner was not home at the time of the fire, but has been displaced. Southington's social services department is helping him with temporary housing and anything else he needs.

The Southington fire marshal responded and is investigating the cause of the fire. The fire was likely accidental, fire officials said.

Traffic was backed up on Queen Street (Route 10) in the area as crews responded to the fire.

No one else was injured in the blaze.
