New Haven Man Charged in West Haven Home Invasion

A man was struck in the head with a lamp, police said.

West Haven police have arrested a man accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home, assaulting her and hitting another man in the head several times with a lamp.

Police responded to a report of a home invasion on Main Street at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and found a man who had been assaulted and needed medical attention, police said.

The victim had been hit in the head several times with a lamp and was suffering several large cuts and contusions, police said.

He was transported to an area hospital and the woman told police that her ex-boyfriend, Peter Marone, 45, of New Haven, had broken into her apartment and assaulted her and a male friend.

Police apprehended Marone at 96 Elm Street a short time later and charged him with home invasion, assault and threatening.

He is due in court in Milford today.
