Several homes in New Haven were hit by bullets when at least 30 rounds were fired early Tuesday morning and police are looking for the person or people responsible.
Police said they received several 911 calls around 2 a.m., reporting gunshots hitting buildings in the area of 460 Middletown Ave., between Cross and Ellis streets. No one reported that anyone was shot or said they saw any shooters.
The gunshots hit two apartments at the Michael Richard Court Apartments complex.
"It's scary. I hope they do find the person that did it," Sherice Arroyo said, adding that children live and play in the area.
There were reports that a third building was hit, but investigators didn't find that to be the case.
No victim has been found and police have not yet identified who is responsible.
A neighbor who called 911 told NBC Connecticut that he heard about three shots around 1:30 a.m., which were followed by about 10 more.

He found a few shell casings in front of his home, but said most are further down the road in this quiet neighborhood, where violence like that is uncommon.
Police have put out more than 30 evidence markers, where casings have been found, and are interviewing residents of the neighborhood, hoping someone will have information to tell them determine what happened.

They also said it appeard the bullets were fired from more than one gun.
They are also watching to see if someone shows up at a hospital with injuries from a gunshot.
Middletown Avenue was briefly closed and the case remains under investigation. The department's Bureau of Identification responded to the scene to cullet the bullet casings and any evidence.
Anyone with information about the shots is asked to call New Haven Police.
