New Haven Police caught up with the man who allegedly robbed the Bank of America on Amity Road Friday.

After receiving a tip from a viewer that saw the bank surveillance footage on television, police moved in on the suspect, Robert Herman, 60, at local motel Saturday morning.

Police found Herman standing outside of room 106 at the Econo Lodge on Pond Lilly Avenue where he is said to be a regular patron.

Several motel guests gave police information that further implicated Herman in the bank robbery.

He was placed under arrest and charged without incident.

A search of Herman's motel room led police to a hat, glove and black bag similar to the one used in the robbery.
