New Haven Slasher Gets 10 Years

A New Haven woman who slashed another woman in the face during an argument will spend the next four years behind bars.

The victim told police that Tizzie Mack, 31, approached her on Limerick Street in October, 2008 and began an argument. According to the arrest warrant, Mack spat on the victim, then slashed down her right cheek with a barber’s razor, the New Haven Register reports.

“She suffered significant disfiguration,” Assistant State’s Attorney Roger Dobris told the judge.

During the hearing, Mack tearfully told the judge she wanted to put the episode behind her.

Mack, 31, entered a guilty plea to a charge of first-degree assault under the Alford doctrine, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended after four years served, the Register reports.
