New Jersey Man Nabbed for Threatening Lt. Gov.
A New Jersey man is accused of sending threatening e-mails to the lieutenant governor from a public library in Las Vegas.
State police have arrested a man suspected of threatening the lieutenant governor in December.
Lt. Governor Michael Fedele received threatening e-mails in December 2008 and authorities launched a nationwide search for the person sending them, state police said.
After digging into the case, police discovered that the suspect e-mails came from a public library in Las Vegas, police said Thursday, and they believe a New Jersey man sent them.
On Aug. 20, John Stankus, of Long Beach, N.J., was arrested in New Jersey and held as a fugitive of justice. On Wednesday, he was extradited to Connecticut and formally charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.
He was being held on $75,000 bond after he was arraigned in Hartford Superior Court. How Stankus allegedly threatened Fedele or why is not yet known.
