Danbury's State's Attorney is looking into the police investigation into the death of a 35-year-old black attorney and said they have found no evidence of conspiracy on the part of the Redding Police Department.
Gugsa Abraham "Abe" Dabela was found shot in the head in a wrecked car near his home in Redding in April 2014 and his family and the Connecticut NAACP questioned police and the medical examiner's office determining his death was a suicide.
The NAACP said many questions remained about Dabela's death, including why his DNA wasn't found on the trigger of a handgun found at the crash site. They also launched an investigation.
"Although the investigation is not yet complete, it has revealed no evidence of any conspiracy on the part of the Redding Police Department. The Redding Police Department has cooperated fully with the Office of the State’s Attorney and the State Police throughout this investigation, as well as cooperating with the forensic expert retained by the Dabela family in 2014," Danbury State’s Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III said in a statement.
