Connecticut is bracing for another Nor’easter, just days after one of the earliest snowfalls on record. Snow is a possibility yet again in the hills, but weather could be more severe on the shoreline.
Captain Mike Buonasora from the West Haven Fire Department says they are ready for the storm. He says high tides could cause coastal flooding.
“The conditions are heavy winds and high rain,” Buonasora said. “It’s going to push a lot of water in to the Long Island Sound, which in turn will make our high tide substantially higher.”
Buonasora says they have not yet evacuated the shoreline, but says people should prepare in case of an emergency. He recommends packing a kit, with medicine, flashlights, and a battery powered radio.
Businesses on the shoreline are expecting a slow day. Chick Celentano has owned Chick’s restaurant in West Haven for the past 60 years. He says he doesn’t expect the storm to be anywhere near as bad as some that he’s seen over the years.
“It was Carol. Came right over the counter. Actually, it came right over the counter,” Celentano said.
