North Branford Man Accused of Making Explosives

Police said they found explosives devices and “hundreds of pre-cursor elements to construct such devices.”

A 51-year-old North Branford man has been arrested, accused of manufacturing explosives in a residence in Northford.

The Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in New Haven developed leads on Sunday about the possible sale and arrested Louis Lomartra, of 718 Forest Road, according to state police.

They said the removed multiple explosives devices and “hundreds of pre-cursor elements to construct such devices.”

Lomartra was charged with illegal manufacturing of explosives, illegal possession of explosives and illegal storage of explosives.
 
He was released on a $7,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court on July 17.
