Not Guilty Plea in Essex Alpaca Stabbing

Kyle Roscetti denied violating his probation for a criminal mischief conviction from 2011.

A 21-year-old Westbrook man has pleaded not guilty to charges he stabbed four Alpacas to death on at Applesauce Acres in Essex in December.

The Middletown Press reports

that while in Superior Court Tuesday, Kyle Roscetti also denied violating his probation for a criminal mischief conviction from 2011.

Roscetti and Shawn Malcarne, 23, face cruelty to animal and other charges in the deaths of the alpacas, who were found dead at Applesauce Acres Farm on Dec. 23.

Prosecutors said the animals were apparently killed for sport. Police said a nose ring found at the scene led them to their suspects.

Roscetti is due back in court on July 19.  Malcarne, who also has pleaded not guilty, has a court date on June 28.
