Officer Injured in Vernon Crash

A police officer was injured in a crash in Vernon on Thursday morning.

A police officer was treated at a local hospital and a driver has been arrested after a collision in Vernon on Thursday morning at Grove and East Main streets.

Police said the car driven by Roberto Reinoso, 45, of Tolland, and the cruiser collided head-on near a curve around 1 a.m.

The officer, identified as Richard Tedford, was treated and released from the hospital and is recovering at home, according to police.  Tedford is a 10-year veteran of the Vernon Police Department.

Reinoso suffered minor injuries. He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and operation of a motor vehicle without a license.

Reinoso, a cook at a local restaurant who has lived in Connecticut for eight years, has no prior history with police.

Bond was set at $10,000 and Reinoso is due back in court on Dec. 13.
