A New Canaan police officer saved the life of a teenage runner from Florida who went into cardiac arrest during a road race on Thursday.

The teen collapsed just before 8 p.m. at the end of a race at Waveny Park.

A police officer arrived two minutes after the all came into 911, used an Automatic External Defibrillator and began CPR, police said. Within another four minutes, the teen had a pulse and was breathing.

The teen was transported to Norwalk Hospital, then to Westchester Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.
