Police have arrested two people suspected of dragging a State Police trooper and Plainfield police officer by a car on Route 14 in Canterbury on Friday night.
State Trooper Chris Toney was traveling on Route 14 in Canterbury at 5:44 p.m. on Friday when he spotted a suspicious vehicle pulling out of a driveway from an abandoned residence, police said.
The trooper stopped the car near the Canterbury fire house with the assistance of Plainfield Police Officer Ken Davidson.
Police said that's when the officers identified one of the occupants of the car as Mark Mills, 22, who is wanted on two failure to appear arrest warrants.
According to police, a struggle ensued and Mills yelled at the female driver to drive away as he held officers Davidson and Toney in the car and dragged them down the road.
Police said both officers were dragged a short distance before falling to the ground and sustaining non life-threatening injuries.
Toney was treated at Day Kimball Hospital and released, while Davidson declined medical treatment at the scene.
State Police were searching for Mills and the female driver. and troopers found them behind a residence on Palmer Road in Chaplin around noon on Monday.
Mills and Cara Cote, 19, are each being held on $500,000 bond and will be arraigned on Tuesday.
Mills is charged with two counts of assault on public safety/emergency personnel, two counts of interfering with an officer and two counts of reckless endangerment, 1st degree.
Cote was charged with two counts of assault on public safety/emergency personnel; two counts of interfering with an officer; two counts of reckless endangerment, in the first degree; stop sign violation and failure to carry certificate registration, insurance.
