An oil company spilled 100 gallons of oil in the basement of an apartment complex in Middletown.

The basement of an apartment building at 127 Grand St. in Middletown was flooded with about 100 gallons on Tuesday morning.
Officials from the state Department of Energy & Environmental Protection said Valley Oil was filling the heating oil tank and there was an apparent malfunction, which caused #2 home heating oil to overflow.
Officials said it appears that all of the oil is contained to the basement.
