According to press release, the accident happened at approximately 11p.m when a vehicle driven by 26 year-old Dina Senibaldi of Everett, Mass., rear -ended another vehicle driven by 52 year-old Edmund Davis of New Haven.
State Police say Davis's vehicle was forced off the roadway, striking the wire guardrail on the right shoulder, ending up on the vehicles passenger side.
Davis's vehicle also contained a passenger, 45 year-old Lisa Delprete of North Haven.
Davis and Delprete were transported to L & M Hospital with serious injuries. Delprete later succumbed to her injuries. Davis is currently being treated for head and chest injuries.
According to the press release, Senibaldi did not suffer any injuries as a result of rear-ending Davis's vehicle, however, the passenger in her car, 25 year-old Marirose Lynch, also of Everett, Mass., was treated for a laceration to her forehead.
After failing a field sobriety test, State Police discovered during its investigation at the scene, Senibaldi was also in possession of marijuana and possession of narcotics, a police report revealed.
Senilbaldi was detained and is being held for arraignment in New London Superior Court on April 11.
