Officials Identify Woman Killed By Train in Fairfield

Amtrak officials have identified the woman who died after being hit by an Amtrak train in Fairfield on Sunday.

Officials said Fallon Newvine, 31, of Waterbury, was hit by an Amtrak train on track 4, heading toward New Haven-bound around 5:45 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, but Fairfield police told News 12 Connecticut  the woman appeared to be trying to cross the tracks to reach a platform on the other side when she was struck. Anders said it's not known why the person was on the tracks.

The incident affected all train service in the area and there were 30-minute delays on the New Haven line of Metro-North. However, Metro-North trains weren't expected to be greatly impacted because of fewer trains on Sundays.
