Pedestrian Cited After Falling Into Car: Cops

A pedestrian was struck in Meriden.

A 62-year-old man suffered a head injury when he fell into a car while crossing East Main Street in Meriden on Friday afternoon, police said.

Police have identified the man injured as Martin Rosado and said he is in good condition.

He was unconscious when police responded at 12:11 p.m. and and found him on the ground.

Police said he smelled of alcohol and was trying to cross East Main Street when fell backward into Albert Levesque's PT Cruiser, about 30 feel away from the crosswalk.

Rosado was transported to Hartford Hospital.

Levesque was driving slowly when the accident happened and remained at the scene, police said. 

Police determined that Rosado did not cross the street in the right area or in a safe manner and was cited for improper use of a highway by a pedestrian.

No charges have been filed against Levesque.

Meriden police are investigating and ask witnesses to call Lt. Thomas Cossette at 203-630-6256.
