A man was struck in Torrington last night.

A 53-year-old Torrington man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car on East Main Street in Torrington on Tuesday night.

Daryl Howard, 53, was crossing the street at the intersection with the Route 8 off-ramp to Exit 44 at 11:20 p.m. when he was struck by a 2012 Honda Pilot that was traveling northbound, police said.

The driver, Khoi Pham, 46, of Torrington, called 911, police said.

LifeStar landed in the Torrington High School parking lot and airlifted Howard to Hartford Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. He is in stable condition, police said. Pham was not injured.

The Torrington Police Department's Accident Investigation Team is investigating. No charges have been filed.

East Main Street was closed for several hours between Columbus Street and East Elm Street and has since reopened.

The department asks witnesses or anyone with information to call police at 860-489-2090.
