Pedestrian Dies After Car Hits Him Outside Torrington Restaurant

A pedestrian died after a car hit him outside Scarpelli's Restaurant on Friday night.

Police found David Perkins, 51, lying unresponsive in the roadway near 865 Migeon Avenue after responding to a report of a pedestrian-involved crash at 6:32 p.m. on Friday. A 2007 Honda Accord struck him outside of the restaurant.

Campion Ambulance and Torrington Fire Department personnel tried to stabilize him at the scene before he was driven to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. according to police. Doctors were unable to revive him at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries, police said. 

LifeStar was called to respond but did not airlift a patient, according to the helicopter transport service.

Police have not released information on whether the driver has been located.

Route 4 was closed at Route 272 in Torrington for several hours. The intersection was still closed around 11 p.m. Friday.
