At least 15 people were transported to the hospital after a lightning strike at the Lake of Isles golf course, in North Stonington.

Firefighters were called to the course on 1 Clubhouse Drive just before 9:30 a.m.   Strong storms moved across the state and into North Stonington Monday morning.

The victims were workers at the course, who took shelter in a shed on the course between the 4th and 13th holes, according to a spokesperson for Lake of Isles.  None of the victims was directly struck by the lightning, the spokesperson said.

All 15 were taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
