A Cheshire resident was bitten by a fox or coyote while sitting on a back deck on Wednesday morning, police said.
A resident of Nichole Court was on the back deck around 10:45 a.m. when a wild animal bit the resident in the leg, police said.
Officials believe the animal was a small coyote or a fox and said the injuries are minor.
Police believe the animal was unprovoked and might have been feeding on berries nearby and become startled.
The animal ran away and has not yet been found.
Police ask that residents call Cheshire Animal Control to report when they see coyotes or foxes that are out during the day or acting strange.
